I had changes. I am now serving in Chalatenango! It is so much cooler here. I mean cooler as in the climate. It's more up in the mountains. There's nothing but hills here (kind of like the avenues in San Fran.) but at least its a little colder. My new companion is Elder Yaxon. He's from Guatamala! Finally a latino companion. My spanish is doing good. I've been at a functional level for a while and now its going to get better as I work with Elder Yaxon. I came in to this area and it almost feels like I'm opening a new area. I got here and we had like 1 family of investigators and 1 other guy and that was it. No references and nobody to contact. So you can imagine how slow this week started. We were contacting a lot of people. Oh yeah, I'm senior companion. Anyways, we kind of had to start slow but hopefully by the end of this change we will have had success. The members are awesome. Our elder's quorum president is like 26 and he speaks english, really choppy english, but it's pretty good. The only other people Ive met who know english are the drunks and the gangsters lol. We have a better house here, too. Running water, shower, toilet that flushes, nice living space.
So besides all that, one thing I learned this week is how important the atonement is. Here it's a little hard to find people who feel like they need the atonement. for two reason's. They either belong and are completey involved en their church and feel "saved" or they don't care and don't mind fighting and shooting people for the rest of there lifes. But there are people who really need the Atonement. Who need to know that the price was payed for them and all they have to do is live the gospel. So this week we are going to help our investigators understand more of the atonement and hopefully that will help them progress more.
Love you mom, tell everyone else I said hi. Love you all.
